Why Group Therapy?

Group therapy is widely underutilized. It offers more benefit to the client - more diversity of opinions and perspectives, more opportunities for relatedness, and more chances to understand how other people see you.

It’s tremendously cost-effective as well; group sessions typically cost way less than individual psychotherapy since the therapist is more easily compensated for their time (the caring is free!). Monarch also offers free groups in order to help our interns to develop their skills under licensed supervision.

Supporting a loved one

This intern-led group is for the support people involved in the lives of anyone with any mental health issue. They do not need to be a client at Monarch. Issues covered include appropriate boundaries, the inevitable frustrations being a caregiver, and how to take adequate care of yourself while supporting another.

Eating Disorders and Trauma

This group helps people to tackle the twin issues of trauma and disordered eating. Topics include coping and triggers, the ways in which relationships play a role, and getting the most out of recovery.

Group psychotherapy is an effective option for healing

Group therapy is a place where you can learn who you are in relationship - not just to the therapist, but to everybody in the room. It’s an invaluable tool.
